Know China

The capital of China is Beijing but its largest city is Shanghai -- both are vibrant cities and two of the most attraction-
filled destinations in China, as far as tourist spots are concerned.  China today breathes a blend of old-world oriental charm and modern cosmopolitan allure attracting millions of tourists each year, Olympics or not.

China is indisputably a giant considering that more than a fifth of the worlds total population lives within Chinas borders. China encompasses a great diversity of landscapes with higher elevations concentrated in the west where some of the worlds loftiest mountain ranges are located, facing the areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Its an ancient Chinese belief that their country was the geographical centre of the Earth and the only true civilization to exist in fact, one of the worlds earliest civilizations and has a recorded history that dates from some  3,500 years ago, hence, hongguo, the Chinese term for the country, means central land.
